Upper School
A warm welcome from our Upper School Director, Aracelis Maldonado
With 113 courses available for students in Grades 9–12 (ages 14–18), we are proud to offer a rich and varied curriculum, in addition to numerous after-school activities and athletic programs, from robotics and theater to Varsity sports.
Students have the choice to pursue an International Baccalaureate diploma, Advanced Placement courses, a mix of IB/AP, or receive an American High School diploma. Programs like Leadership Lab and our career-readiness internships in prominent companies in Paris prepare students for their next steps beyond ASP.
By offering the most comprehensive choice of programs and real-world opportunities, we ensure that our students succeed well beyond their time at ASP and gain access to prestigious universities around the globe.
Our Upper School balances academic rigor and teaching self-awareness, intercultural competencies, leadership, and collaboration.
Our approach empowers students to reach high levels of academic achievement, while gaining the confidence, positivity, and real-world experiences to prepare for life after Upper School.
We provide numerous opportunities for students to discover their abilities in the arts, sports, leadership, advocacy, and ample experiences outside of the classroom.
Each student’s individual development is a priority: all of our Upper School students have personalized access to Guidance Counselors, College Counselors, and Learning Support specialists.
University Acceptances
Guided by a team of experienced college counselors, our students gain admission into top universities around the world including Ivy League colleges and prestigious institutions in Europe, Asia, and the USA. Each student works one-on-one with their College Counselor to find the best-fit school for their needs.
Our students consistently outperform world averages in the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs.
ASP is one of the founding schools of the International Baccalaureate program and one of the few schools in Europe to offer a range of IB and AP courses. Because of this, our graduates attend many of the best universities around the world. Our students' scores consistently exceed worldwide grave-level norms. We're proud to report that 98% of our class of 2023 IB students passed their exams and received the IB Diploma, with an average score of 35 points, far above the world average.
We are proud to be a founding school of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program
and one of the few schools in Europe to offer a range of both IB and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Students can choose from:
- The full IB Program
- Advanced Placement (AP) courses
- A mix of IB and AP
- Traditional American High School diploma
Learning for the Real World
We ensure that our students learn for the real world, not just for school. We anticipate the world in which our students will work, post graduatuion, and we offer them experiences to ensure they will thrive beyond ASP. Internships are regularly available with companies like Louis Vuitton, Pixium, and Schneider Electric.
As part of our personalized approach, we offer support services for all students.
Our Learning Support program is available to students with diverse learning needs. Our highly-trained Learning Support teachers provide dynamic support in both the homeroom and in our dedicated Learning Support spaces.
Our Upper School Guidance Counselors supports the educational, emotional, and behavioral needs of our students and offer a range of services to address these needs.
Our new two-year Advisory program for Grade 9 and 10 students, Leadership Lab, supports students on their journey to self-realization, as they grow individually and as members of a community. Throughout Leadership Lab, students will engage in activities and discussions that cultivate their sense of self, communication capacities, and anti-oppression practice.
