Celebration | the Future is Here! | Summer 2018 4 A noted overseas educator since 1987,  Mark E. Ulfers becomes a member of the ASP alumni community as of July 2018, returning to the United States where he will become the Executive Director of the Association for the Advancement of International Education. Mark has led the American School of Paris, holding steadfast and true to our mission and beliefs. Projects he has driven include the landmark campus build and the capital campaign to support it, the development of our strategic plan, inclusive schooling, integrated curriculum, and the 40 Assets community agreements. Mark’s love of teaching and learning, and his belief in empowering youth have steered us every day. His passion and commitment to global citizenship and serving others are exemplary, embodied by the Kalahari Education Experience which he initiated for our young people. ASP has evolved into a renowned 21st century learning institution under Mark’s leadership, and we thank him. Leaving His Mark Thank you, Mr. Ulfers. You have welcomed beautiful new buildings and constructed an even stronger ASP community. By dressing up as a rabbit for each Halloween, by attending every school concert and home sports weekend, by spending your summers in the Kalahari helping others, by calling every student you pass a friend, you’ve become a presence of goodwill that will be missed by all. Lucas Lippman, Grade 11 Mark, thank you for eight amazing years. You will be missed, but your vision is forever imprinted on the walls of this school and the minds of those who had the privilege of working with you. Rosina Civera, Lower School teacher
