Board of Trustees

ASP’s Board of Trustees is responsible for the long-term viability of the school, financial oversight, and governance.

The Board works closely with the Head of School to advance ASP's strategic vision, and to help ensure that our school best serves the needs of our community while fulfilling our mission of preparing our students for personal and academic success. The Board members are current parents, past parents, and alumni who have a wide variety of professional experiences.

ASP’s mission is to inspire and prepare children to achieve personal and academic excellence. With our Going Beyond strategic plan as the roadmap. ASP empowers students with the skills and mindset to enable them to navigate life’s opportunities, and be agents of positive change. 

Who we are

The ASP Board of Trustees is self-perpetuating and is composed of parents from across the school, past parents, and alumni, all volunteers. Each trustee brings a special expertise and acts as an impartial adviser, a problem solver, and invested advocate on behalf of the American School of Paris.

What we do

ASP is an independent, private school and a non-profit organization recognized under the French Association Loi de 1901. As its governing body, the Board works closely with Head of School, Jane Thompson, to ensure that the needs of the community are served, and we govern and allocate resources to best respond to mission-driven opportunities in teaching and learning. Performance results are published each year in our Annual Report.

Board committees focus on finance, advancement, facilities, and new trustee recruitment, procedures and policies; we often ask community members with relevant expertise to contribute to committees. Please reach out if you would like to know more.

We also encourage parents to connect with the Parent Faculty Association and the Advancement Office to learn about their programs and opportunities to support ASP and each other.
