A Non-selective, Extra-curricular Pathway to Bilingualism
Comprehensive English language programs from PreK to Grade 12 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, designed to support students of all proficiency levels from Beginner to Anglophone.
The American School of Paris Extension Program is a leading extra-curricular English language program in the Paris region, unique to offer external students an opportunity to access an international education setting through an extra-curricular program.
We view all students as emergent bilinguals. Acceptance into our programs is not selective and remains guided by the student's profile and goals, serving to design an individual pathway to success.
The Extension Programs are programs of excellence rooted in the American School of Paris' philosophy and pedagogical practices: academic rigor, openness to the world, innovation, creativity, and personal fulfillment. Deeply committed to our mission, we thrive on creating wonderful learning experiences for our students.
As with the non-English-speaking (EAL) students at our school, English acquisition is pursued in three stages: the discovery of language learning through immersion, followed by maximum exposure to develop skills and, as soon as comprehension and communication allow it, immersion into the English Language Arts group. Bilingual students enter the English Language Arts track directly.

Primary (Maternelle-Primaire)
Primary English Language Immersion
The Primary Program is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where English language acquisition and personal growth are equally important. Students discover English or develop their communication skills in English with academic goals in mind.
The curriculum is developed around the American approach to education, which offers academic rigor as well as a focus on social and emotional development to instill in students confidence, positivity, and a ‘can do’ attitude.
The framework is articulated around meaningful content areas that students relate to and are learning about in their native language. As students achieve linguistic independence, they develop complex comprehension and communication skills in English in each one of these content areas.
Classes propose a fine balance between instruction, project work, cultural celebrations, and service learning. Among popular projects and events: the ASP Food Drive End of the year show, Holiday Songfest.
A sample schedulE:
- Circle Time where students build their capacity to listen and to communicate. (Greetings, sharing news and stories, lesson previews. )
- Lesson Blocks: reinforcement of learned concepts. Introduction of new content and skills in oral and written comprehension and communication through individual work, pair work, whole-class. Reading for comprehension and writing workshop/Writer's Journal.
- Reading for Pleasure and the Discovery of Angophone Authors: in-class reading aloud, classroom library and lower school library visits.
- Language reinforcement and practical applications through Arts, activities and project work.
- Recess ( morning and afternoon)
Students can opt for both morning and afternoon classes. The framework remains indentical with adjustment to content and the reinforcement of the morning's skills.

The Wednesday program is open to children with at least a Pre-intermediate level of English.

Saturday Immersion Classes
Secondary (Collège-Lycée)
Secondary English Language Immersion
The Secondary Program creates connections to the real world, challenges students to master skills, and at high school, anticipates their needs as they prepare for their future. The curriculum focuses on key language areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing to improve communication skills in social and academic contexts. Students work from engaging and meaningful materials: Anglophone literature, current events, social issues, community building projects. The development of public speaking skills in a variety of settings is an essential part of the curriculum. Students practice individual and group presentations, recitals, drama-oriented activities, and speaking exercises to build language skills and confidence.
Authentic learning programs in place at the American School of Paris place students in situations of interaction with their peers at ASP and in the international community.
English is the language of communication and instruction across all classes. Grades or levels are mixed. All lessons are tailored to each group.

Lunch Option
LUNCH OPTION
We are pleased to offer students lunch option which is available at an additional charge.
Lunch option is available for the Wednesday Morning 9:15 am-1:15 pm and Wednesday All-Day 9:15 am-5:00 pm programs.
Staffed by our team of French chefs, our cafeteria provides fresh and balanced meals to our students including favors vegetables and fresh seasonal fruits as well as organic products. Our cafeteria is green-friendly!
Students who have not signed up for the lunch option are invited to bring a lunch box.
A 30 minutes lunch break is scheduled between 11:30 & 12:00.
There is no lunch option available for the Saturday program.

Registration Information
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I ENROLL MY CHILD(REN) ?
Online application opens by April 11, 2024.
Deadline for applications is set on April 30, 2024.
Applications are reviewed and confirmed according to the number of places available. If necessary, the office will contact you for an evaluation of your child(ren)'s level.
If you have provided all the required elements - Completed Online Application form and Payment in full - before April 30, 2024, the office will let you know by email by June 15, 2024 if your child has a place in our program(s).
Application process reopens on August 26, 2024 for the allocation of remaining spaces.

The Wednesday program is open to children with at least a Pre-intermediate level of English.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Application Form
Online applications only. Complete applications with payment in full will be processed. No reservations can be made by phone or email.
Payment Terms
- By credit card via PaylPal or via a PayPal account ( when signing up online - Please make sure to follow the instructions on the online application form)
- By Bank transfer (RIB provided on request by email) Bank charges remain at your expense.
Payment Plan
A payment plan can exceptionally be considered if you register for the Wednesday all day program and/or if you enroll a minimum of two children. After completing your registration form online, you may email a written request to the Extension Program Office at extension@asparis.fr to be considered for a payment plan.
Full payment must be submitted to the Extension Office which includes: A 25 % down payment is requested upon submission of your application form and 3 checks to be cashed in October, November and December 2024 sent by post.
Payment does not guarantee a place in the program. Our office will get back to you within the deadline to confirm whether we have a place for your child(ren).
If your full payment is not received upon submission of your application form, the Extension Program of the American School of Paris reserves the right to cancel your application and assign it to another student.
Unpaid Fees
In case of unpaid invoices and after several reminders, the Extension Program of the American School of Paris reserves the right to call upon a collection company in case of unpaid invoices. Your data will be shared with them for the sole purpose of recovering the amounts due.
CANCELLATION/MODIFICATION POLICY
Cancellation / modification of program due to the participant
A modification or a cancellation of the application must be notified in writing to extension@asparis.fr
Any cancellation is subject to the below:
● Cancellation occurring before confirmation of acceptance to the program: a 75€ cancellation fee is charged.
● Once a place has been confirmed to the program: 20% of the fee is owed and a 75€ cancellation fee is charged.
● Once class has begun: the full fee is owed,
In the case of serious medical or family reasons ( Relocation, death in the family, school schedule...) , and upon presentation of a medical certificate or written evidence sent by email or mail, an administration fee of 75€ will be charged.
Cancellation / modification of program due to the ASP Extension
The ASP Extension reserves the right to cancel a proposed session if the number of registrations is insufficient. In such cases, the ASP Extension will offer alternatives or reimbursement for services not provided..
If as a result of unforeseen and compelling circumstances (such as demonstrations, weather conditions, pandemics and/or any other events jeopardizing the safety of students and teachers attending the school) that would lead the administration of the American School of Paris to temporarily close its school. The ASP Extension would be obliged to close for the same period of time, its English program without refund.

What is the school's protocol with regards to Covid-19 ?
The Extension Program applies the government's Covid protocol for schools in France. As of February 1, 2023 the test and quarantine protocols have been lifted according to the Ministry of Health. However, we continue applying protective measures such as washing hands... and a strict hygiene protocol of its own: high-touch surfaces are regularly disinfected... The Extension Program and the ASP protocols are regularly updated as per the government's recommendation.
We do recommend that parents continue being rigorously attentive to their children's state of health and keep them home from class if they are showing any Covid or flu-like symptoms. Children may return to class once they have recovered and are fever free. In case of illness, please be in contact with our office (extension]@asparis.fr.)
Do you organize visits of campus?
We do not organize visits of campus but a virtual tour of campus is available on the ASP website. Also, a parent/teacher orientation is organized in September for families that are registered in our annual program.
Do you offer a free trial class?
We do not offer a free trial class. Our classes are tailored to each group composition. For information on the class content, please contact us at extension@asparis.fr.
What is the minimum & maximum number of students per class/activities ?
The ASP Extension reserves the right to cancel a proposed session if the number of registrations is insufficient ( See our cancellation policy above)
A maximum of 16 students per class. Grades and proficiency levels may be grouped. We don't honor requests for friends to be in the same class for our languages and activities programs.
Can I enroll my child during the school year ?
We do accept applications in the course of the school year depending on our availabilities. You may contact our office at extension@asparis.fr.
What is the policy for responsibilities of participants ?
CITIZENSHIP AND CONDUCT
Students at ASP are expected to behave, both on and off campus, in a manner which reflects well on themselves, the school, their families. Mutual respect and consideration are the keys to making our school and program a great place to be. Below are some specific details that will no doubt create a positive experience for everyone :
- Respect yourself and others at all times
- Be responsible and prepared for class and activities ( arrival on time, follow instructions, attentiveness, mindful of peers and of the teacher...)
- Maintain a safe, calm, and clean school/class environment
- Respect of digital citizenship ( school and personal devices)
The ASP Extension reserves the right to expel without issuing a refund any student whose behavior is deemed unacceptable by Extension or school administration. Behaviors resulting in expulsion : bullying, physical or verbal aggression, thefts, destruction of others' belongings or school property, repeated nonappearance in class/activity will result in sanctions....
