Service Learning

A FORCE FOR GOOD

"No one is too small to make a difference," and at ASP, our students from Grades K3–12 engage in regular service learning initiatives. Our educators integrate whole-school service projects into the classroom curriculum, allowing our students to learn to work together for positive change. Our students are supported and empowered in creating their own service initiatives, both individually and in student-led clubs.

ASP students are challenged to grow as leaders and global citizens. Students approach service with a complex view of what it means to give back and make a positive change in the world, and explore service within the classroom, by planning and executing service projects around Paris, and through service trips in Romania, India, and the Kalahari Desert.

We believe that educating for excellence requires cultivating a global understand and sense of social responsibility in students of all ages. ASP offers students age-appropriate challenges through service learning, and empowers students to identify a problem or need, to research and collaborate on potential solutions, and to develop a plan of action to engage all parties in realizing a positive solution.

In addition to our school-wide service projects like our annual canned food drive for the Restaurants du Coeur, there are dozens of ways for students to join in on existing service learning projects, or to create their own. Students across the divisions have unique opportunities to learn valuable skills, practice compassion and reflection, and to work together to make positive change; from student-led clubs for all ages, to heritage initiatives in the Lower School, to impact projects through Model United Nations, and the IB service learning and National Honors Society service in Upper School, there are numerous access points to service learning for ASP students.

You can learn more about our unique, experiential learning program in the Middle School on the Middle School Service Learning page.
