WELCOME TO LOWER SCHOOL

DanHeadshot

Our mission in the Lower School is to create a caring and nurturing learning environment for our students, and to inspire them to become true global citizens of the world. Our teachers strive to foster and encourage creativity, a spirit of inquiry, the acquisition of essential skills, and the freedom to express and share ideas. Small class sizes allow for plenty of individual attention and enriching group interaction.

Our experienced Lower School faculty members are truly outstanding: warm, caring, dedicated, perceptive, and highly trained. They are committed to developing strong, positive, and lasting relationships with each of their students. A typical school day is one that is filled with joy, laughter, and learning.

In all areas of our curriculum and throughout the daily school life of each child, we look for ways to empower students to take ownership of their learning and to lead their own educational experience. Their resulting enthusiasm and implication is so rewarding for them, and for their teachers and parents as well.

We value solid parent partnerships, a hallmark of the ASP educational experience, which enhance the learning experience. Please contact the teaching team or me whenever you would like to discuss your child’s time at ASP.

I look forward to meeting you and your children, and wish everyone a very happy, engaging, and successful school year.

On this page, you will find all the information that you need to prepare for the start of school. We accept students throughout the year through our rolling enrollment program.

If you have any questions about any of the resources listed below please contact Camille Burel in the Lower School Office.

Warm regards,

Dan Kerr

LOWER SCHOOL FAQ

Q: Is there a lunch program for Lower School students?

A: ASP Lower School students in Grade K5–5 can either enjoy the Hot Lunch Program provided by our French chefs or they can bring a packed lunch from home to school with them each day. The dedicated Lower School Cafeteria has several microwaves to allow children with packed lunches to heat up food brought from home with supervision. Students in K3 and K4 must bring their lunch to school each day, and eat in their classrooms with their teachers.

Q: Is there a required summer reading list?

A: As the library supports "just right" reading (books are selected according the child’s reading ability), we encourage our K3–Grade 5 students to come to the library with or without parents and we will establish a personalized "just right" summer reading list. Librarians and booksellers around the world will always be able to suggest great "just right" books and magazines for your children! Please contact us if you have any questions.

Q: What school supplies are required in the Lower School?
