October 1, 1946 was the date classes began at the American Community School (now the American School of Paris.) This year, on the same date, we celebrated our 75th year with an all-school birthday party! We would like to invite our alumni around the world to celebrate with us: share a wish, inspire students, and make a gift to honor your alma mater. Priya Khote P'19 is the new President of the Board of Trustees of the American School of Paris. Formerly Treasurer of the Board and Head of the Finance Committee, Priya has a background in corporate sales and marketing, and is a citizen of France, India, and Canada. A special shout out to Gwinyai Jambga '89, our Athletics and Activities Director, for speaking about his path back to ASP, and to alumni faculty and coach David Stead for the great memories he shared! ASP's Class of 1970 has continued the momentum of regular Zoom meet ups, most recently in September. Bob Shubert and team have helped keep the class connected through their own website, meet ups, and mailings. More events are planned for the months ahead. Great work, 1970'ers! Recent campus visitor Sieste Goffard '11 is one of currently 75 alumni who are profiled on the alumni wall of our Upper School. She has a specialist focus on environment and climate change, centered on the interdisciplinary nexus of poverty, livelihoods and resilience in relation to global environmental change. Her work includes publications on resilience, adaptation and the politics and practice of community participation in the new carbon economy. Juliana Lamb '11 is co-founder and CTO of Stytch, a building a developer platform which helps companies incorporate passwordless authentication options into apps and websites. Recently Stytch raised $30 million in a Series A funding drive to help it roll out more authentication options, launch additional user infrastructure features, and build out session management and fraud detection solutions. Ousman Jobe '91 is the Sub-Saharan Africa Lead, Strategic Response, Office of CEO/COO for Meta's Facebook. He writes that he is now 'leading program managers… (coordinating) company-wide efforts to mitigate election and civic integrity risk in Sub-Saharan Africa…The journey to help bring Facebook's mission to life here is nuanced, complex, and worthy of every bead of sweatequity.' Andrew Hian-Cheong '11, principal architect of AI and machine learning at FiscalNote, was included amongst Technical.ly's "RealLIST Engineers of 2021", identifying 16 influential technologists leading Washington DC into the future. Andrew holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University. Bill Judis '13 shares news: 'After attending Concordia University, I worked for Aramark Sports and Entertainment, and I have now accepted a dream job as an Assistant Manager at Rogers Place Indoor Arena in Edmonton, Alberta. To say that my twelve years at ASP were formative would be an understatement. Thank you to #RebelNation for giving me the tools to conquer the world'. Neale Austin, former Head of School and Upper School math teacher, suffered a stroke and contracted viral meningitis in October. At this writing, he is getting care at a facility near his home (and ASP), and making progress. Well wishes for Neale can be emailed to former math teacher Barbara Trudeau who will share them with him. Cards are also encouraged; Barbara will provide the postal address.
In Memoriam Michael Seeley P'08, '11 October 2021, in Switzerland. A key supporter of ASP for many years, he is survived by his wife, former ASP Board of Trustee President Lis Seeley, their children Sorina '08 and Rob '11, and an extended family. Marcelle Estelle Kosersky '53, January 2021, in Massachusetts, USA. One of ACS/ASP's first students, Marcelle captured the attention of Alma Matters readers with her ongoing search for her long-ago classmate Claire Picard. (Photo: classmates -left to right- Marcelle, Arlette, Claire.) ASP Educated-Empowered-Employed! Gwinyai Jambga '89 is ASP's new Athletics and Activities Director. Gwinyai comes to us from the American School of Asuncion in Paraguay. He shares: 'I am excited to lead this department and continue the great work that has been done thus far. As a graduate of ASP, I understand first-hand the important role extra-curricular activities play in the formative years of our young learners.'
