HOW TO MAKE A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT IN THE PARIS REGION

For an appointment if your doctor is not available or after hours/nights/weekends: SOS Médecins will either come to your home or meet you at their offices.

FOR DIFFICULTY BREATHING OR FEELING OF PRESSURE/PAIN IN CHEST call 15, the emergency medical services number. If you do not speak French ask if they speak English "Parlez-vous anglais"?

To make a doctor's appointment, we recommend you use the web site Doctolib.fr. Not all doctors are using this site yet, but in general it is quite comprehensive and relatively easy to find doctors. You will have to set up an account and you do need a French cell phone to get the verification code. Even if your foreign phone works in France, we highly recommend you get a French cell phone, the subscriptions here are very inexpensive and sometimes completely free if you get it with your home internet/TV subscription.

You can search for doctors by specialty and location – put your zip code in for location.

Common specialties:

Medecin Generaliste

Pediatre

Chirurgien Dentiste (Dentist offices are mostly closed, but you can call your dentist for an emergency and they will direct you about what to do)

Obstetricien/Gynecologue

Gynecologue Medical

ORL = Ear, Nose, Throat specialist

It is best to avoid any appointments that are not urgent, many elective surgeries are being cancelled at the moment.

Here is an example of searching for a doctor by the language they speak:

To search for an appointment either today (Aujourd'hui) or in the next three days (dans les trois prochains jours).
