Dear ASP Parents,
External Factors Impacting ASP's Campus Remaining Open:
French Government Requirements Aligned with the rentrée of French schools, the French Ministry of Education has issued an updated safety protocol for schools. We have carefully reviewed these protocols, and ASP is currently meeting or exceeding all of the requirements.
Our community has been working together effectively to support the new safety protocols. We have observed, and appreciated, parents keeping their children home if they have slight sickness or any related symptoms. Parents are contacting the nurses for advice and keeping the school informed directly on COVID-19 related health issues. Our students are complying with the mask requirement and are clearly trying to follow all the barrier measures. We are grateful for everyone's heightened awareness and for taking these necessary precautions. It is important that everyone continues this behavior.
The virus is actively circulating in the Paris region and it is likely that, despite our community efforts, your child or your family will have to quarantine and seek COVID-19 testing at some point this year. Please be ready, at any time, for the possibility of a 10-day quarantine. Owing to the strict rules followed by the Agence Regionale de Sante (ARS), if two or more cases of COVID-19 are confirmed in the school, widespread quarantining will be mandated. Though consideration is given to the effectiveness of our school's safety measures, the stance of this organization is rightly cautious and strict.
This could mean a whole Division is required to quarantine, particularly for the Upper or Middle school where 'bubbling' is challenging. Our aim is to keep as many children on campus for as long as possible, however, our school must comply with the requirements of the ARS.
The current rule is that testing should be done seven days after your last contact with someone who has COVID-19. If a student has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the child can only return to school after the seven day period is complete and after they have received a negative COVID-19 test result which must be shown to the school nurse.
Thank you for your continued support. For more information on ASP's distance learning plans, you can visit the ASP website.
We sincerely hope we will not have to move to distance learning for these short periods, but please know that if we have to, we are well prepared.
Best regards,
Jane Thompson and the Administration Team
