Dear ASP Families,
I sincerely hope that everyone has enjoyed a restful summer and remained healthy and well. Though a few precious weeks of the summer vacation remain, I wanted to share several important details concerning the 2020-21 school year as well as helpful travel information for our families who will be traveling to France in the coming weeks.
We sincerely ask that each member of our community commits to following the French Government and school guidelines, in order to protect the health of our students and community members, and to allow us to continue face to face learning on the ASP campus throughout the year.
Survey We anticipate that many of our families, especially our newest families, may encounter difficulties arriving to France, or that some may be forced to quarantine upon arrival. If you think that your child(ren) will not be able to come to school beginning on August 26 or that you will not be able to attend the New Family Orientation(s) (August 24 and 25), please fill out this brief survey by Monday, August 10. If you do not foresee any conflict with your child(ren)'s attendance beginning on August 26, you do not need to fill out the survey. Preparing your child for the school year Currently and at any time during the school year, if your child has come into sustained contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19, the child may not attend school until a 14-day quarantine has been completed. If you are unsure, our school nurses are happy to support and advise you. All students in Middle School and Upper School are required to wear masks while on the ASP campus or while riding one of our buses; Lower School students can wear masks but it is not mandatory. All adults are required to wear masks on campus. Please ensure your child understands the purpose and importance of mask-wearing, social distancing, and frequent hand cleaning.
Please keep a close eye on the health of your child, including regular temperature checks. If your child exhibits symptoms related to COVID-19 such as coughing, fever, headaches, or an upset stomach, do not send them to school. Any child coming to school with these symptoms will be immediately required to return home. If your child suffers from allergies or has a medical condition that may engender symptoms similar to those related to COVID-19, please make sure the school nurses are aware.
We plan to host our New Family Orientation on August 24 (Upper and Middle School) and August 25 (Lower School) and will also host a virtual orientation for those families who cannot attend. We will send further details on these events in the following days.
I look forward to welcoming you all back to ASP, as well as meeting our many new families. Please enjoy the rest of the summer vacation!
Please see below for information on travel restrictions.
Warm regards,
Jane Thompson Head of School
