September 2019 A Sawiris Library
THE HUB NEWSLETTER WELCOME TO THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE
Dear ASP community,
We've made a few changes to the layout this year. To access the list of our new additions of the month, read about our Book Club activities and access our Book Highlights click on the appropriate red buttons below. We hope these changes make your experience more enjoyable and the newsletter easier to read.
If you're a new parent, I will be presenting briefly at the Living Skills seminar on September 18 where I'll be introducing our resources and services.
We hope you make it a habit to read The Hub every month as it is our preferred way of keeping you informed of the library's resources, programs and activities. Feel free to share with us your ideas, book recommendations and comments.
Have a great year!
GOOD TO KNOW
Book return from Summer borrowing
Borrowing materials
Working in the library Please remember that the library is the ideal community area to relax quietly, read, work and study. A large number of students require such haven to manage the stress brought by assignments and just to be tranquil.
FRENCH AND SPANISH COLLECTIONS
We've updated our French and Spanish book collections and added more than 150 new titles. You should be able to find materials at your level.
COLLABORATION
During the first semester, all GAPS 9 and 10 students will work on a unit of study involving research and a presentation. The classroom-library collaboration is an important step toward the reinforcement of information literacy skills. Collaboration is also being planned with different grade 7 and 8 classes.
RESOURCE HIGHLIGHT
The library is now subscribing to the Modern World History database from Infobase. This resource provides excellent background information such as encyclopaedic articles, primary sources, videos, maps and charts on topics and eras from 1450 to the present.
