The US library newsletter
November issue

"To ask why we need libraries at all, when there is so much information available elsewhere, is about as sensible as asking if roadmaps are necessary now that there are so many roads."
John Bing

Dear students, parents, staff and faculty,

You're receiving the latest issue of The Hub! News a bit earlier this month due to the upcoming Toussaint break.

Due to delays with construction and our suppliers the library will not open until Monday, November 21, at the earliest. To accommodate for the late opening we are pushing back the books return date to November 30.

Until we reopen Mr. Tremblay and I will work out from the workroom, next to the library. I will also spend time in classrooms. For your research needs and to minimise the inconvenience please remember that you can find a lot of information and resources through our library web site.

Finally, we will inform you of the alternate locations for the book club meeting on Nov. 9 and the parents workshop on Nov. 22 upon.

To help you wait for the big opening, we thought we'd show you what the library will (almost) look like in a few weeks time.

See you in the new building,

Mario Chioini

RESOURCE HIGHLIGHT
GALE’S “IN CONTEXT” SERIES DATABASES

Gale/Cengage has recently unified and modernised their database products.

ASP subscribes to three titles in the engaging "In Context" series: Science, Opposing Viewpoints and Global Issues.

Except for Science In Context which is searchable by itself, both Opposing View Points and Global Issues can be searched separately or simultaneously thus enhancing and maximizing the user's search experience.

All products are cross-curricular, support full Boolean logic and provide hundreds of topics that link to portals which makes discovery and exploration simple and meaningful. The media-rich content includes fulltext magazine and journal articles, videos, images, news feeds, videos and more.

NOTE: These resources are accessible through our databases page on our library web site. You will need the login sheet to access the “In Context” series remotely.

ROOM TO READ

ASP is happy to support Room to Read through various activities and fund raisers during the year.

Millions of children across 10 countries in Africa and Asia have benefitted from Room to Read’s programs. The plan is to
reach 15 million children with quality education by the end of 2020, but Room to Read needs your help to get there. Invest in their work or learn about other ways to get involved. Imagine a world in which all children receive the education they need to reach their full potential. Now, help make it a reality.

If you are interested in making a donation to support Room to Read's mission please contact Mario Chioini at the US library or click this link to Room to Read's donation secured web site.
