A Middle School Art Experience
Recently, our Middle School students completed a very meaningful and successful project. Under the guidance of Visual Art Teacher Ms. Amy Zwikel, the students worked with the Memory Project, a nonprofit organization that invites artists to create inspirational artworks for children around the world who have faced significant challenges such as violence, war, extreme poverty, neglect, and loss of parents.
The Memory Project organization sent the students photos of children in Cameroon along with what they want to be when they grow up and some other characteristics. Then, our students created inspirational artworks that are then hand-delivered to the children.
This heartfelt project deeply connected our students to their art. They wanted to make something extraordinary for the kids in Cameroon.
Our students learned how to draw realistic faces and then designed crowns with symbols based on the children's goals and traits. The results are phenomenal and we are proud to showcase this loving exchange of art, dreams, and care between children around the world.
You can see all of the portraits here in the Virtual 3D Art Tour.
