IB Film in the Spotlight!
IB Film in the Spotlight!

ASP's Erick Pessôa

At the end of August, our incredible IB Film teacher, Erick Pessôa, was featured on the IB blog discussing his groundbreaking, international film festival, Clash of the Titans (COTT). Beloved around the world, COTT is usually an action-packed week of film production for students from four continents, who come to ASP to compete by creating a short film in less than 48 hours.

In the normal course of study Erick infuses his IB film classes with key aspects of the IB learner profile, from practicing open-mindedness when analysing films to developing a deep and functional understanding of film concepts. The COTT festival is the perfect opportunity for ASP IB film students, and other IB film students from around the world, to come together and practically apply their knowledge, technical skill, and communication abilities to a fun challenge.

Erick has adapted COTT to global COVID-19 restrictions (no easy feat!) and created a program that will include even more schools from around the world as they display their creative talents while in their own countries. He looks forward to an in-person screening of their films, and to eventually welcoming budding film producers back on campus in the coming years.

Congratulations, Erick!
