National Distinguished Principal for 2021

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Lower School Director, Daniel Kerr, has been selected as one of three National Distinguished Principals for 2021 by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). The National Distinguished Principal program is sponsored by the State Department of the United States of America and honors outstanding elementary and middle-school principals who set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and climate for their students, families, faculty, and staff.

We are fortunate to have had Dan lead our Lower School for the last four years. Dan has spent 22 years in international education and is an experienced leader working at top schools in North America, the Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, South America, and now with us in Paris, France. He is also an adjunct professor at Endicott College. Reflecting on his time at ASP, Dan says, "in my experience from working in six countries across four continents, ASP is the most progressive, current, and welcoming school that I have ever been a part of."

Dan Kerr

Dan embodies what it means to be an experienced leader and passionate about education. He has helped grow our innovative Early Childhood Program and has led our Lower School program with kindness and vision. Beyond his boundless enthusiasm and passion for education, he has spearheaded our school-wide commitment to child safeguarding, acting as ASP's Child Safeguarding lead while tirelessly supporting training for all constituents in our community and advising other schools. He is a strong advocate for inclusion and has represented ASP at conferences worldwide.

There is much to say about Dan's leadership and long-term impact, but for his main constituents, his students, his value is more immediate. He is the smiling face they see every morning, come rain or shine, who knows every name, who can make them laugh and brighten their day. A faculty member once described Dan as "a gift to the Lower School," and we couldn't agree more. He is well known in our community as a beacon of positivity and optimism, a person who is immensely generous with his time and energy to support and encourage anyone around him.

At ASP we are proud to have outstanding faculty and staff from all over the world join us as we champion education, a lifelong love of learning, and the ability to make the world a better place. We are thrilled to see Dan recognized for his efforts as our fearless Lower School leader by the NAESP. Congratulations, Dan!
