Cross Country Competes!

After almost two years, competitions are back for the Running Rebels. It felt good to be out there on the XC course again; it felt even better to see so many of you crush your races. I am still waiting on the results and will send them as soon as we receive them. These will have your times and the team results.

One highlight was the dominating performance by Konnie. Halfway through the race, she was still 300 meters behind the first runner. In the end, she was 300 meters in front of her! She went out there and competed, not only winning the overall race but even ran a faster time than last week, despite it being a much harder course at BSB. Someone described her as "Killer Konnie" at the end of the day. I can't think of a better way to describe her based on that race! Konnie took the gold in the JV girls race.

Konnie was followed by Catarina who was also behind the top runner halfway in. She competed like a champion, passing her in the final kilometer of the race, bringing home a gold medal in the varsity girls' race. After the race like a true competitor, she told me, "I know I could have raced better." That is the type of determination that will carry you through a successful season and running career!

In the varsity boys race, Mathis, who wasn't even sure his hamstring would hold up, ran an incredible race. He finished with the bronze in a very stacked field. He looked both healthy and fast! He was followed by Filip in 4th place. As a young varsity runner, he has much more to come. We are still waiting on the final results but with the close finish of Nuno, the team should have placed high.
