The 2010-11 registration form is now available under " Key Documents" to the right of the screen.

Print out and mail it in with the required elements for a complete dossier. Once we receive your form, the extension office will contact you to set up an evaluation if one is necessary.

New maternelle/primaire and bilingual student inscriptions requiring an English evaluation for la rentrée 2010 that are received AFTER July 1st will be tested in September. Acceptance into the program will be based upon availability only.

Extension Program Inscription Procedures :

Step 1:

Fill out the appropriate inscription form. There are different age based forms for the Saturday and the Wednesday programs (Maternelle/Primaire and Secondary). Please be sure to use the correct form. All program registration forms are available to download and print on the right hand side of the screen under the Key Documents section of this webpage.

Step 2:

Payment for at least the first semester must be included with your registration form. If the Extension Program is unable to accommodate your registration application, payment will be returned. Program costs depend upon the program chosen and are printed on the bottom of each registration form. Registration forms are available to download and print on the right hand side of the screen under the Key Documents section of this webpage.

Step 3:

All new students to the Extension Program MUST BE EVALUATED INDIVIDUALLY by our program teachers in order to determine the level of English and correctly place the child. Children are placed by age and level. Only children aged 4-5 who are pure beginners do not need to be evaluated. An average evaluation takes approximately 30 minutes. The result of the evaluation does not guarantee acceptance to the program. Classes offered each academic school year are created based upon current applying clientele. Evaluations are typically held two times during the year; the first and most important evaluation session during the months of June and July prior to the summer vacation period, and a second, if necessary, in the early weeks of September. A sufficient number of students to be tested must be collected and group together before scheduling a test date.

Step 4:

The Extension Program office will contact you regarding your test date or for further instructions. ONLY AFTER THE TEST, the Extension Program will be able to confirm if your child is accepted or not in the program. Registrations will be confirmed by mail. Returning students do not need to be tested UNLESS they have been absent from the program for more than one academic year. Priority is given to returning students and their siblings. There is a possibility of placing applications on a waitlist if desired.

Maternelle & Primaire

Our pedagogical approaches, through which students experience a new culture and broaden their horizons, exceed conventional linguistic acquisition.

We initiate, develop, and improve language skills through interactive methods: video, audio, role-play, improvisations and use of new technology.

Extension students are exposed to various activities within a secure and nurturing environment. Music, Art, Theatre, and writing workshops allow an easier and faster acquisition of the rhythm and pronunciation, as well as a broader enrichment of daily vocabulary.

We foster joy for learning and eagerness to appreciate both American language and culture.

All activities and instruction are presented in English, including worksheets, oral exercises and written expression. Discussions and debates are conducted entirely in English for advanced and fluent students and partially for beginners and intermediates.

Students are divided by level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, fluent) and by age (4-5, 6-7, 8-10 year olds).

An evaluation test is given to each student prior to acceptance into the program. The result of the test does not guarantee acceptance to the program. Registration will be confirmed by mail and is subject to availability. Priority is given to former students as well as their siblings.

Secondaire

Highly qualified teachers enhance the learning experience (grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening comprehension and oral expression) by drawing from literary works such as plays, short stories and/or popular novels.

Theme-related newspaper articles, film, music and new technology are regularly used to stimulate large group discussions and debates.

Each potentially bilingual candidate must be evaluated prior to acceptance into the program. Other secondary students will be evaluated first day of the session.
