Upper School Library

The Upper School library supports students’ literary and information needs through a variety of services and resources. The school subscribes to a growing number of online databases, which are accessible to all members of the community via the library’s web site. The Upper School Library caters to students in grades 8-12. Parents are also welcome! We are on the first floor of the new Upper School building at the top of the grand staircase.

Resources

The library’s collection supports the school curriculum, and contains physical and digital resources. Except for a small core section, our reference and biography collection are inter-shelved within the regular non-fiction materials. 

The library subscribes to several online databases which provide extensive resources for research, including EBSCO family of databases, QuestiaSchool and Shmoop.

The school has a growing number of online databases for each library. The Upper School online resources are accessible to all members of the community via the library’s web site.

Britannica Online

The full Britannica encyclopedic database.

EasyBib school edition

The tool enables students to create accounts and save their notes and citing references.

EBSCO

General and subject-specific full-text magazines and journal articles as well as some reference works.

Provides contextual perspective on international news and events.

Questia school

With over 75,000 full-text, cross-curricular e-books Questia is an excellent resource for all research assignments including extended essays and historical investigations.

Teen Health & Wellness

Provides students with nonjudgmental, straightforward, curricular and self-help support on myriad topics.

Online test preps for SAT, PSAT, ACT, AP and homework help all in one place, 24/7.

Universalis en ligne

The full Universalis encyclopedic database. En français.

Writer’s Reference Center

A one-stop online reference that offers various writing tools, references and resources.

Atomic Learning

Online video tutorials (Office, Photoshop, iMovie, gmail, etc.).

Brain Pop

Short videos on all topics – basic but to the point to illustrate various concepts.

Circulation Policy

Books are checked out for a 4-week period and can be renewed twice. Certain books are only available “overnight”. There is no limit to the number of books a student may check out. If a whole class needs the same materials, these will be put on reserve.
