Our ASP Physical Education Teachers say: "Thank you for the Heart Rate Monitors!"

Dear Excellence Fund Donors,

Thank you from the ASP PE department for your generous support of our program. We used an Excellence Fund grant to purchase 25 state of the art heart rate monitors for use in our PE classes and sports programs.

Using these heart rate monitors, we are showing students exactly how hard they are exercising and teaching them how hard they need to exercise for optimum fitness results. We feel privileged to work in a school where we can keep up with the latest advances in technology to enrich our student's education.  Thank you!

The Excellence Fund is fabulous!  As a teacher, it gives you confidence that the institution is behind you financially to support your ideas.  Last year we received 25 heart rate monitors, which we’re using to teach students what intensity they need to work out to get maximum benefit.  I’m a huge supporter of the Excellence Fund, and grateful to all who donate.

Update: Recent Excellence Fund Grants

Congratulations from our Excellence Fund Grant Committee to the following ASP faculty and students who received grants during the current school year:

• Johan Semaan (US Faculty) and Madeleine Pauchet (Grade 12) : funding received for the Upper School Global Issues Network to present an inter-active presentation involving debate at the Zurich conference this November.
  
  
• Maryama Antoine (US Faculty) and Aiden Farrell (Grade 12) : seed money to begin an “Excellence in Creative Writing Award”, rewarding winning students the opportunity to publish a novella or book of poetry.
  
  
• Jane Desbans and Roberta Sabatini (LS Faculty) : A K1 SMART Board to enhance overall learning, offering children the possibility to have a hands-on approach to technology.
